Google Earth Wikipedia Layer gives Geolocation related Information
Google Earth is very advanced free and paid version Desktop maps proving service for all users. Google Earth software Engineers and developers always work hard to integrate new features in Google Earth to make Google Earth as real world. Google Earth team integrates different services in Google Earth product to give much more Geo-location related information for their users. Google shows Geo-location information with Panoramio Internet Photo Sharing service but Panoramio gives only preview of location in Google Earth. In other words, Panoramio Photos may not give full information of respective Geo-location. Finally, Google Earth team thinks in another way to give complete information of respective Geo-Location.
Finally, Google selected Wikipedia service to give complete information of every popular location within Google Earth service. This type of integration definitely works in our real world because Wikipedia is one and only best informative service which is already published 2,393,113 informative articles in English as per Wikipedia official statement. This official statement collected on 30th May 2008. Similarly, Wikipedia is world’s number 7 website as per Alexa Traffic Rank and Number 1 information service. So, Wikipedia can easily cover almost all major Geo-locations through out the world. Google already knows this fact and finally decided to integrate Wikipedia service in Google Earth results.
Google finally integrated Wikipedia service and Panoramio service as Wikipedia Layer and Panoramio Layer on 9th December 2006. Every Google Earth user can read Wikipedia information and this information is almost related to Google Earth maps results. Google Earth team satisfied Wikipedia results in Google Earth product. Similarly, Wikipedia team also tested Wikipedia results in Google Earth service. They also satisfied Google Earth’s engineers and developers work by checking the Wikipedia results in Google Earth service.
Google Earth located Wikipedia Layer at Geographic Web of Primary Database section in Layers. Google Earth may not show Wikipedia results in maps results if Wikipedia Layer is deselected.
